My super talented colleague Rachel Tiep-Daniels is organizing a charity art auction called Art Blocks for Ghana. The proceeds from the auction will help educate the orphaned children in Ghana. Each artist was asked to interpret the theme 'Home'. Check out some amazing artwork, it's really inspiring: http://artblocksghana.blogspot.com/
Here's my contribution to the Brownstones To Red Dirt Postcard Art Benefit Auction organized by the amazingly talented Vicki Saulls at Blue Sky Studios. This fundraising effort is to build a school for the orphans in Freetown, Sierra Leone and create a library for the youth at their school in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Its been a while since I have used gouache and it was a lot of fun painting on a Birch wood postcard. The auction happens in March. Here is the link to check out some more amazing artwork:
Wow! Its been a while....no a looong time. Really sorry about that everyone, for disappearing like that. A lot has happened since my last post. But more of that later. I want to start of this year by posting some of my work from UP.
In summer 2008 I had the honor to work on UP as an Art Intern. It was the best experience ever! I worked with an amazingly talented Design team. Most of my projects involved designing the interiors of Charles Muntz's Airship, 'Spirit of Adventure' along with my mentor Nat McLaughlin.
Shown below are the designs for the Cockpit and Muntz's Trophy room.
I really love exploring in 2-D. For this assignment I experimented with basic graphic shapes that make up a train. It was like working backwards, distilling the train to its essence or what makes a train look like a train.
Gosh...its been so long. Sorry everyone for not keeping my blog updated. I am back in school now and the transition from a workplace to a classroom environment was really hard to get used to. Thought I would start off with another Western . I was trying to figure out how the Weapons compartment would look in the train 'Wanderer' from the movie Wild Wild West. I tried using different components of the train as an aesthetic.
I am sorry I haven't been updating my blog. I have been interning at PIXAR for the past few weeks. Its the best ever!!!!! I feel so lucky and privileged for being part of something that makes such great movies. Every day spent here is like a dream! And I have made so many new friends who are all so talented.
